Blow Molding Services

BLOW MOLDING SERVICES

Blow molding is a plastic molding process for rapid production of hollow structure products. Many products in life will choose injection blow molding for packaging, such as water bottles, oil drums, children's toys, etc. This is an economical and efficient plastic molding process. It is also suitable for mass production of plastic products.

Mulan Manufacturing Group provides blow molding services and has been engaged in the production of blow molding parts for more than 15 years. It has two large blow molding manufacturing bases that produce small injection blow molding parts, such as medical test tubes, cosmetic bottles, drinking water bottles, etc. And large-scale extrusion blow molding products, such as insulation barrels, oil drums, car water tanks, tool boxes, etc.

DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS FOR BLOW MOLDING

● Injection Blow Molding
Injection blow molding is to use an injection molding machine to preform plastic parts before blow molding, and then use an automated blow mold for shaping and cooling. By integrating the two into a whole through automated equipment, a complete blow molding product can be obtained by one operation. It is better than extrusion blow molding to achieve precise details of the parts that are not blown. For example, the thread of the mineral water bottle is not affected by blow molding, and a smooth surface and accurate thread sealing effect can be obtained.
● Extrusion Blow Molding
But for large products, we would recommend that you use extrusion blow molding to generate thermoplastic tubular materials with a predetermined diameter and wall thickness through plastic extrusion equipment. After the thermoplastic tubular materials are softened by heating, they are shaped by a closed mold and the inner cavity is subjected to high pressure. Inflate the material to closely fit the surface of the mold cavity and keep it consistent with the product shape and structure in the design. However, blow molding cannot create products with complex structures and high precision requirements, and is usually used in packaging or products that are not demanding.

WHAT IS BLOW MOLDING PROCESS?

Blow molding is a process in which a hollow product formed by the expansion of a hot-melt plastic tube closed in a mold by means of gas pressure.
The blow molding process was used to produce LDPE vials in World War II. In the 1950s, with the birth of HDPE materials and the development of blow molding machines, the blow molding process was widely used and the technology was upgraded.

According to the different plastic blank tubes, it can be divided into extrusion blow molding, injection blow molding, stretch blow molding and multi-layer blow molding.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BLOW MOLDING AND INJECTION MOLDING?

The main difference between injection molding and blow molding is the types of products that can be produced. Generally, blow molding is the manufacture of hollow containers, such as bottles, pots, barrels and so on. There is no injection port on the surface, Injection molding is used to produce solid parts. The plastic granular material is first melted, and then injected into a closed mold under high pressure for shaping. There will be traces of the injection port on the surface.

IS BLOW MOULDING EXPENSIVE?

Blow molding will be more cost-effective than injection and rotational molding.
Generally speaking, the production cost of a product needs to refer to several factors, such as part structure design, product quantity, product material selection, and product application functionality. After a comprehensive analysis, we choose the most reasonable cost manufacturing process. Blow molding materials are relatively small, but for hollow structure parts, the structure is not complicated. When mass production is required, blow molding must be cheaper and more efficient than other plastic molding processes.

WHERE IS BLOW MOULDING USED?

Blow molding is widely used in the production of hollow structure products, such as: water bottles, oil drums, chemical turnover barrels, floats, medical reagent bottles, etc.

Injection blow molding is suitable for small container production, and stretch blow molding is suitable for medium and large-volume container products.

However, the surface effect of injection blow molded products is better than stretch blow molding, and can be highly transparent and flat. Drinking water bottles are the most typical injection blow molding.

WHAT ARE THE DISADVANTAGES OF BLOW MOULDING?

Blow molding has many limitations due to the molding principle, so there are a few points that should be paid attention to when designing blow molding products:
● Only limited to hollow structural parts.
● The wall thickness is thin and the strength is low.
● By adding other materials in the multilayer part, the effect of blocking sound and heat sources is increased. (So not recyclable)
● A second trimming is required to remove burrs and excess material.
● Only for thermoplastics
